Is Statewide 700 MHz in operation yet? I have it programmed into my SDS 200 and 100 but so far I haven't had any hits on it. I read in other posts that it will be assigned to RIPTA so that they will no longer tie up RISCON with non emergency traffic but like I mentioned I haven't heard anything yet Thank you

Yes thats the info I got. So far I have heard North Prov DPW and one other DPW from another town, I forget which one. In my Unication G5 radio I just programmed a zone with ALL RIPTA talk groups and ALL DPW talk groups in as many towns in RI as I could find talk groups for. That way, as this 700 site gets populated I will hopefully hear something. Right now I have that 700 mhz site programmed in my SDS200 along with the other sites. But 700 is VERY quiet!

Just some general official info on the system for everyone from digging around the internet, as I haven't seen anything official posted on here, only speculation and what has been heard so far.

From the PDF "STATE OF RHODE ISLAND CAPITAL BUDG, BUDGET PROPOSAL FISCAL YEAR 2026"

"RISCON 700MHz Project -
The Governor recommends financing $1.4 million in FY 2025 from the RI Capital Plan Fund to adapt the
RISCON system to include a 700mhz band. This upgrade will allow the RI Emergency Management
Agency to segregate different users of the RISCON system to prevent system overloads during
emergencies and allow communications to continue uninterrupted during major events."

From the 2023 PDF RI EMA "Staff Presentation to the House Finance Subcommittee on Public Safety Capital, FY 2023 Revised and FY 2024 Budgets"

"700 MHz project - $2.8 million
▪ RIPTA used to use a 700 MHz system
▪ Decommissioned system as parts no longer made
▪ Project integrates that system into RISCON 800 MHz system to expand system capacity
▪ Funding would include purchasing and replacing the necessary parts"

Heard North Providence DPW just now - talkgroup 1554. I am scanning on the South Simulcast.
