I have an SDS200 with DMR, NXDN and Pro-Voice installed, and I live in NW Oregon.
I have the frequency for Oregon Medivac (155.400) and all I receive is static when the scanner catches that frequency.
Is that because their transmissions are encrypted, or is something else ??

A quick query for the state shows the following results:

Also could be a birdie internally in the scanner.

All the above data show analogue, no digital or encryption. It would be nice to know which county, though. You might be too far away, and receiving something else?

just to check.
this is one quick way to bee if it is a birdie
take the antenna off, yes all the way.
if you still hear it, it is either a birdie or something transmitting VERY close to you.
and if you can set the squelch all the way up and still hear it, it is a birdie.
they are internal to the radio and can't be stopped.
i do not know if the IFX thing changes that.

Thank you for your assistance, but I tried those steps, and the "static" did not appear. Again, it is ONLY the Oregon Medivac where I get this.

reading other posts, it is more like a "buzzsaw" noise . . . .

Definitely sounds like a very weak DMR signal. Can you post a short video or picture of the detailed display (include RSSI on the display) when you are hearing the anomaly?
