Whatever happened to this one? I'm still seeing GASMAN01 in the CAP.

I was wondering the same thing. Gasman 01 was the only tanker I heard on audio with AR work with the Braves. Braves did have a little excitement with a commit on a low level aircraft described as single engine single tail white in color that landed at an airport. The Brave working it was at low level so I couldn't copy all of his audio and I didn't catch all of the details.

Receiving Banker01 with Huntress on 260.900. Both female and male voices from Huntress. Now, this is a first for me to receive Huntress, weak but readable. Where might Huntress be set up today?

Bill,

I think that Huntress is in their normal location up in NJ/NY? They use a series of repeaters when working DC CAP. Sometimes I hear them fairly clearly here just south of Baltimore so I think they sometimes use one in the BWI area.

During a Guard Dog CAP I can always hear Huntress on 260.900. Maybe there is a repeater setup to cover the Thurmont MD area? Might be the additional mountains between your area & Thurmont make for marginal coverage?

Northeast Huntress is in Rome,NY. I believe they can access the ARTCC remote transmitters for center freqs to transmitt on. Years ago I think they had separate towers and transmitters but I thought I had read that they are tied into the center towers now after 9\11. They are supposed to be able to see everything now on their consoles that a air traffic center controller does.

I think Huntress has been transmitting from the Frederick area lately. I think there is an FAA transmitter on the mountain in Gambrills. I'm just able to hear the controller.

Guard Dog seems to be transmitting from Leesburg.

Guard Dog seems to be transmitting from Leesburg.

With the technology and money available I would think they can take a mobile ground control unit about anywhere.

Guys,

Found this old post on the web but looks like most of the info is still accurate.

In the least it's a good place to start if you're interested in Pax River comms.

Woulkd be interesting if anyone lives near or visits the PAX area to confirm these freqs.

As I recall this list was put together by a milair enthusiast who used to work at PAX.

Any VX-21 references should be VX-23.
