It is used by Kirkwood to dispatch Kirkwood, Glendale, and Des Peres Fire Departments. They respond on Kirkwood Main (54749) and use Tac 50-59 for major assignments.

Ladue is dispatched by central county 911 on south dispatch. Unit numbers 39xx.
Ladue fire talkgroup is old from when they were self dispatched.

I am having trouble getting reception of South Fire: Main S [S MAIN F] and South Fire: Dispatch S [S DISP F] where I live near Chesterfield Mall.
Any tips?
I am using a HomePatrol2.
thanks!

Hi all- how can I tell which tower I am receiving?
For a simulcast system, there's no way to tell which physical tower site you are receiving. All sites on a system broadcast identical data.
You can tell which system you are receiving by the site number displayed. Hold on the control channel and the display should alternate between active talkgroups and the system ID info.

For STL County, you would ideally want Slater South or site 1-2 but near your location, you may get better results from the nouth site 1-1.
Slater can be tricky out this way as we have both south and north site towers which can cause severe simulcast issues.

For fire, most fire traffic for Monarch will be heard on south and north but the south system would be the primary system as Monarch FPD is located south of Page which is the dividing line between the two Slater systems.

If you can see the frequency while there is no voice traffic, 853.825 would be site 1-1 North and 853.7875 would be site 1-2 South. That will change when a voice channel goes active though.
I'm also not exactly positive how the HP-2 displays the info but if you created a favorites list for Slater in your HP-2, it should be easy to toggle each system on or off.

You may also want to look into the hidden menu option under the audio tab and put the P25 setting into manual mode with a level of 6. That's definitely needed if I use my old HP-1. The only problem is that it reverts back to Auto each time you power cycle the scanner.
Do a google search on HP-1 or 2 hidden menu and you should find the info on which firmware you need and then how to make the adjustments.
I thought I recall that Uniden may have made it a little easier to change the P25 setting in the HP-2 model but I could be thinking of something else.

There was also the Analyze functions that could be very handy for getting site and system info.
That feature was part of the optional paid Extreme Upgrade for the HP-1 but I don't know if it was also optional in the HP-2 or if Uniden included the Extreme features in the HP-2 model.

Sometimes you get simulcast systems if your very close to an individual site that can over power the other sites in a simulcast system if your not using an SDS 100/200 scanner. This link gives you the location of each simulcast site in north ST Louis County. Knowing the physical location of each site makes it easier to understand why you might have better reception at one place than at other locations. Any terrain features can have an effect on reception is in a particular location. Normally 700/800 signals are degraded in summer months due to foliage.
