• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hey everybody, I had gotten a APX7000 off ebay In VHF/UHF 1, 1.5 with a Black control top, and green housing, my dumb self decided to go out to dinner and leave it in my car after work, it was in my glove box, and someone decided that they would smash my window and take my radio and a ton of other things. Does anybody know how much it would be to replace? And can you be on a look out for one? If anyone knows anything, can you please message me, I paid a lot for this. If this post is not alowed, please delete.

Thanks

OP,

First of all sorry that this happened to you.
Where did this happen? (City, State)
Have you reported it to the Police? Giving them a serial number of the radio (if you have it) means they can put it in the report and this can help you for insurance purposes that way it's documented.

I did give them everything, but they said its most likely that it will not be found

Where did this happen? If anyone is in the area they can be on the lookout or maybe watch craigslist or something like that.

Not posting the model and serial number really limits your chance of recovery. The radio is world is actually quite small, and if we know specifics on someone's lost equipment, most of us will make every effort to see the owner gets their property back. While filing a PD report will get it added to NCIC, many may not have access so if they see it on Ebay, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, without knowing the S/N, they can't be of assistance.

The folks at Genesis (what many of us who operate trunking systems use to monitor our networks) also have a FREE "Stolen Radio Database" to enter subscriber radio/infrastructure equipment that is stolen. Granted it's crowd sourced, so again, correct info with model, serial number, date of loss and LE agency is key to getting the info out there.

This guy posted this on Facebook. Apparently the radio he tossed in his glove box was inhibited before it was stolen. Sounded like he was trying to get a payout for a bricked radio.

First off, I don't have Facebook, Second, you can't just assume that I bricked it, I have the SN and everything that they need, so why don't you stop

Bull. Your first post about this ‘stolen’ radio was almost word for word what was posted on Facebook. The description of the radio, that it was your glove box, asking how much it was going to cost to replace it, and that a bunch of other stuff was stolen. You also even said it was inhibited on the Facebook post.

In your original post, you pleaded "If anyone knows anything, can you please message me, I paid a lot for this" But you aren't providing specific info that would allow others here to help you. Giving the SN to the police doesn't allow other RadioReference members to identify your stolen radio if they came across it.

The police might take a report without the serial number but the paperwork will simply be filed away. There's nothing to separate this from other similar radios without that unique identifying number.
