Storm Chasers in NJ ?

I know that we in the great state of NJ dont see much tornadic activity, but are there still storm chasers here? Are they just dedicated to tornados, or is the name STORM chasers throwing me off.....

Anyone have any frequencies for these "groups"

Also, does anyone have any disaster organizations (FEMA, American Red Cross - Etc.)specific frequencies for NJ? I am having trouble locating them.

No problem,i heard them talking on 146.955 last night;it will be active tonight at 9:00 for the weekly net.

Skywarn members are not storm chasers. They just report in weather conditions. They have training nets with the ARES on wensday nights at 8:30 pm. Also the 146.955 repeater is a normal ham repeater unless a net is active, so you will hear hams having normal conversations on that repeater.

I have the Civil Air Patrol here.

It seems the American Red Cross switched mostly to Nextels, but here are all of their licensed frequencies in NJ (except for a UHF repeater in a Southwestern New Jersey county):

All the years I have coordinating weather information back to the National Weather Service I have not ever heard of a person or group chasing tornado's in New Jersey

Plus for most places in New Jersey observing tornado's would be a little hard to observe and chase here in New Jersey due to terrain issues.

As a Skywarn Spotter and Cooperative Observer we observe and report the weather via Internet and telephone to the National Weather Service at Mount Holly or the Upton NY office.
