Your local Skywarn net is also a good bet. YMMV but many of them are quite active during severe weather.

Local police get quite chatty during severe weather as well.

Its common for VSP Dispatch to ask units in the field for reports on weather and conditions in their districts including road conditions.
May get stuff on DEM as well not sure.

DOT low band

Fire/Rescue as you said and local police as pinball said.
