Hi Everyone.
Their Is Gona Be A Storm Spotter Training Class Going On In Kennard Nebraska Sometime This Month. Im Looking For The Time Of Day It Will Happen. And What Date It Will Fall On. Thanks.

Can someone explain what spotter training is about and what purpose it serves? What is entailed?

The classes last between 1 1/2 and 2 hours, and provide a basic understanding of thunderstorm structure, spotting techniques, reporting criteria, and procedures.

Usually it is amateur radio operators who report back current conditions, etc back to a radio operator at the local NWS office.

The reason for having spotters is the tilt and the amount of time it takes for the radar to do its job. Plus after a certain degree of tilt from the radar it cannot "see" what is happening in the storm, thus they (NWS) likes to have additional confirmation about what is currently going on in a storm, and trained people to report current conditions back to them.
