unfortunately as a user of that system I was so dissapointed to read that quote, I feel sorry for the Chiefs and the Sheriff. The system is in and sounds horrible what can they do now. Pull it out ? When all the other radios have been picked up. Were stuck with this system the Fire Depts are struggling the most the muffled, garbly warbling audio of the system is even worse when there is background noise like you would have in Fire Trucks and on a fire scene. The article would have been a lot more interesting if they had interviewed end users.........The reason I said I feel sorry for the Board that selected this system is that what else can they do ! this was a major several year undertaking and its not going to be an easy fix to go back where we were. So.................we do what were told .......quit complaining and make the best of it.
If I was Tyco I would fame that article and buy several copies of the Newton Citizen today that also has an article telling how well the system works. That way one day , God Forbid, somebody gets hurt because they cant understand radio traffic OR their radio does like mine did the other night and quit receiving until I turned it off and rebooted it, so if I was MaCom I would file that away so that I can use it if somebody tries to sue me over poor performance of the system.
I should have recorded some radio traffic I heard last night when Cov Fire had a call the audio was so bad it was scary I could play it outside my house tonight and scare little kids (its Halloween....)
