• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Strange alarm indicator issue with DM2600 Mototrbo DMR mobile radio.

Hello to the community.

I'm facing a strange issue, and I need your support and experience.

I’m a radio amateur and I have recently purchased a used DM2600 mobile DMR Motorola Mototrbo radio that I have successfully programmed with CPS 2.0 to some mainly digital repeaters adding a few talk groups.

The radio works as it should and have also made some contacts.

The only annoying issue I have is that the red led is blinking (since I bought it) with a rate of one blink per second approximately.

I have checked in the manual where it is mentioned that this led blinks when radio receives an emergency transmission, or auto range feature on analogue channels is enabled (ARTS), or there is a failed self-test however for the first two everything is disabled and for the case of a failed self-test I get no recorded or instant alarm throughout the boot cycle of the radio operation and no alarms on the radio’s display!
I have also tried to delete my roaming channels and roaming list and I have not configured any scanning list and all scanning is disabled.

Any experience with such a behaviour?

I can provide views of the code-plug if required.

Thanks in advance for any relevant suggestion.

It's likely the radio head has a firmware mismatch from the radio brick.

Update your firmware and it should fix this issue

Many thanks for the fast reply !
Can you please be a bit more explicit as to how this update action can take place.
How can I see those two firmware versions difference?
What do you mean radio head and brick? (head is not detachable and is fixed to the radio body in this type of radio).
Finally if I leave it like this will it do any harm in any way do you know?

73s & best regards, Dimitris.

You need the latest firmware update package from Motorola for the corresponding radio.

The head might not be easily detachable but i suspect the previous owner swapped or replaced heads at some point and did not do a firmware matchup.

No harm, very simple process done through the CPS2 software which you already have

Great ! thanks again.
Is there a link you can point me to in order to request the latest firmware from Motorola?
I'm based in Greece so maybe I need to go to to a European Motorola entity or it is a global entity?
Thanks in advance & best regards.

Last I heard EMEA didn't allow free end-user customer accounts. OP may need to contact a local radio shop that has a Motorola Solutions Vendor account and ask them to either provide the firmware or the firmware update service.
