46.46 could be Baltimore County MD, it's a patch to their dispatch and ops TG's. I listen to them regularly from home just outside of Philly. It's a pretty strong signal and they do run alot of jobs on 'the beltway'.

Might be wrong, but I believe it is skip caused by the E layer of the Ionosphere. If Im right, that means the skip will not be heard at night because the E and D layers go away leaving only the F layer.

I have enjoyed listening to them I was just wondering because they ran call after call after call most of the day Friday and then on Saturday I like it is something different to listen to other than Fannin county all the time but the strange thing was that I dont have my outside antenna hooked up it was the antenna that came with my scanner

You're wrong. You can hear sporadic E skip lots of times at night. One of the peak times it tends to happen is around 8 - 10 PM local time.
Sporadic E skip has nothing to do with the changes in the D & F layers when the sun sets.

Spradic E skip is propagation that is caused by ionized layers within the E region of the ionosphere. It is called "sporadic" because it cannot be predicted the same way that F layer skip can be predicted during the sunspot cycle.

Sporadic E can happen any time of the day or night and any day of the year anywhere in the sunspot cycle. It is most common from about mid-May to mid-July, with a smaller "season" in December. It most often affects frequencies from about 25 to 150 MHz, although it is less common as the frequency increases. Sporadic E comes and goes with little notice. Signals tend to be very loud and sound like "locals". It can last a few minutes or several hours.

It is "magic" !!!

Bonham has a license for 46.46, Ellis Co. has a 46MHZ license, But the Skip had been Incredible lately, it could be out of Alaska and blowing your doors off.

Unless you're near Houston - in which case it is most likely Beltway 8 which is a giant toll road encircling the greater Houston area. But with skip ... who knows?
