Hello,

I am trying to stream my local airport's FM Uplink, the frequencies are 455.550, and 455.650, when i use rtlsdr_airband, and set the modulation to NFM, its all crackly and doesnt work. I am trying to use RTL_FM, but i need some assistance on how to set it up.

Those 2 freqs are usually news and media related. What is the airport?

You could download gqrx and try to see if you can get those freqs to work on that, and then take note of the ppm correction and gain settings and use those in Rtlsdr-Airband or Rtl-Fm

Unless the OP is in GB where they are routinely used for Tower-Ground repeaters. In his only other post he mentions a London Control Sector frequency which suggests he's in the 'Midlands' or 'North' of England

It's Manchester Airport. Its used for ground crew. I can pick up both frequencies with CubicSDR, but its barely understandable on rtlsdr-airband. I tried a FM radio station with rtlsdr-airband, but its the same, just static and barely understandable. With rtl_fm, i run the command, and it cancels itself:

Code:
pi@raspberrypi3:~ $ Found 1 device(s):

  0:  Nooelec, NESDR SMArt v5, SN: 00000001

Using device 0: Generic RTL2832U OEM

Found Rafael Micro R820T tuner

ezstream[1014]: /etc/ezstream_bcfy.xml: world readable

ezstream[1014]: stream: default: no configuration

Tuner gain set to automatic.

Tuner error set to 14 ppm.

Tuned to 162802000 Hz.

Oversampling input by: 21x.

Oversampling output by: 1x.

Buffer size: 8.13ms

Exact sample rate is: 1008000.009613 Hz

Sampling at 1008000 S/s.

Output at 48000 Hz.

Signal caught, exiting!

User cancel, exiting...

I would not run automatic gain as most time its too high and amplifies the noise floor. I don't know why its shutting down. Is it up to date? Can you post a screenshot of the signal in Cubic Sdr?

Heres a screenshot from CubicSDR, the signal is quite weak on here (still understandable), so ive marked it with white lines. On rtlsdr-airband, all ive done is added the line
Code:
modulation = "nfm";
Am i missing something else?

I was hoping for something showing it tuned to a freq and displaying the settings, like ppm, bandwidth and gain. Like this.

or this.
