I'm running 10 slots at 24k for $4.00 a month for the Vocal Alarm Feed at Memphis Fire Scanner. I'm still using EGI Hosting for the Fire Radio feed. Wave Stream also has a nice control panel.

The price for me would be much higher. I have become a huge success in my town and would guess based on webpage traffic and actual reports I have 20 to 50 users at a time.

Well, I'm running 14 to 16 listeners at any given time on my fire feed. If I was running as many as you would, I wouldn't mind paying $20 a month for good quality service and uptime.

So I have a pretty basic question regarding SWT.

I have a recording that I set up for streaming on SWT per the instructions on SWT to Stop and the end of the file. A minute or so after I clicked 'Start Encoding', I connected via the general URL and it launched WMP and played the stream. However, I cannot connect to the stream after the encoding is completed and WME is closed.

If I set it up to Loop, one can connect to it at any time but then it's kinda hard to know when the stream is done. Again, after I stop encoding and close WME, one cannot connect to the stream.

Is it required to leave WME running all the time?

You must have WME running for you stream (recording or live broadcast) to be heard. Once you STOP encodding, your stream/broadcast will not be heard.

I see. So I should set the At End to Stop and then keep WME running. Is there a way to have the streaming part run in a boot start service (that way it will come on when computer is booted up and keep running until shutdown/restarted without having a user log on)?

I feel for anyone who contributed $$ to that service. It will have to be alot more stable before I do.

it's acting hinky again right now. worked great the past couple nights, but today it's gone poopy.

UPDATE: at 0900 pacific time it seems to be back up. my stream has lasted a whole 15 minutes. *crosses fingers*

Second Update: I currently have a nice shots fired call. Enable your Captioning on Windoze Media Player, and if there's something going on i'll put it on the caption. :)

Third Update: I got my hopes up again... server down. poop.
