It's Longshoremen, not Teamsters. The NY Harbor Commission is being replaced with a Waterfront Commission, but I don't know whether that entity has its own security communications.
The Waterfront Commission, the NJ half of it, was dissolved with a U.S. Supreme Court decision in 2023. The "duties," such as they were, of Waterfront Commission in NJ was taken over by the NJSP....
The Waterfront Commission police, on both sides of the Hudson, were made investigators (rather than uniformed cops) quite awhile ago (possibly with the exception of a few), presumably, with NJ's people moving over to NY. I don't know what their status is now.
The strike, and the one that may come again after the election, was taking, and will take, place at the piers owned and controlled by the Port Authority of NY/NJ, and, therefore, the responsibility of the PAPD....whose radios are entirely encrypted.
The old Waterfront Commission of NY Harbor no longer exists. As there is no longer a bistate compact, NY has created a new NY Waterfront Commission that operates only within NY.
