• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So I dunno if this has already been discussed I didn’t really look but I’ve had my 955 for about 3 years now or so and I’ve always kept my echo the same. Inner knob at around 3 and my outer around 3 1/3 and my echo has always been perfect. I’ve noticed the last few weeks that no one hears my echo anymore so now I have the outer knob at max and people still say there’s no echo. I can hear a little from my talk back but it’s not getting over the air. Could something be going bad in my radio?
Thanks

Echo is adjusted correctly when barely noticeable. It’s not really an aid to intelligibility.

A nice upgrade (better mic = better outcome):

In your last thread were questions asked and advice given. The best path in TX/RX is clarity.
Have you followed thru?

Echo works against clarity, it’s an attention-getter in the best of circumstances. Not that I don’t use it on older radios, it’s that it’s Utility is quite limited.

Your radio “may” have a malfunction, so I’d get out manual and review settings. Move switches or dials carefully to feel for glitches.

A VERY clean signal is what really works. Gets attention without distortion. Great “quiet” around one’s voice.

I’ll get responses on the road where the older design radio operators don’t despite echo & extra power.

I forgot to mention it does it on the stock and my d104 mb6. So it must be something in the radio I guess.

My last thread was a little different don’t you think? Anyway, I watched the video and I understand how the echo works lol that’s not the problem. It’s just not working anymore….

Overall performance is reason for reference to previous thread. Stay at it.

How to Set Echo a primer for others (and to remind us to go thru all steps when problem arises).

Was hoping something simple might help. If it’s not a switch contact cleanliness problem, then . . . .
