As to an antenna, you might want to try a Hustler MRM mag mount. I've always been impressed with the performance for the very reasonable cost. Depending on where you get it, it shouldn't cost you more than $25.00. I've tried a lot of antennas over the years, including Larson, AS, Austin, RS, and MaxRad. For the price, the Hustler beats them all hands down.
