CSP, Auroro, Adams County and Araphoe county are out with a suicidal party with a gun to his head in the middle of the interstate. He was previously in a high-speed chase (100 MPH) with 1-Baker troopers, at some point they spiked his car and he ditched it on the side of the road. Then he went really crazy and pointed his gun everywhere while running into the interstate. It appears he was hoping for suicide by cop, at one point he pointed the gun at a trooper, the trooper did return one shot.

At the moment they have they they subject contained near the 310, they are sending out a reverse 911. The subject still has a gun to his head. A negotiator, swat and K-9 units are en-route. Some units report they can't get use their portables.

Update: Lincoln County & Limon PD have an unrelated chase on I-70, involving a stolen vehicle traveling at 115 MPH.

There are some dispatched calls that really don't have a place for the general public to be involved with. This includes calls of this nature and medical calls.

While you may get a high by posting calls of this nature on a world wide web site, you should take into account the privacy of those involved.

Switch the roles and place yourself as the subject of a posting of this nature. Would you like to have your face and name posted all over the Internet under these situations? Just posting the address or general location of calls of this nature can allow the individual to be identified in many cases, even if your not posting it.

All I am trying to say is consider yourself as the subject in the incident before posting it. Plus in many cases, no one really wants to hear about this type of call.

jim202, I could understand your point if this was just a suicide call with a single party inside a private residence or something similar, where the party was ONLY putting himself at risk.

I guess I have a very, very, very difficult time understanding how someone could expect to have any "privacy" after carjacking a vehicle, shooting at State Troopers, crashing your vehicle after it got spiked multiple times, shooting from inside the overturned vehicle at least 4X, and then foot-bailing from the vehicle and running around the Interstate with a handgun near residential areas. If I lived in the area or was driving in the area, I would certainly want to know this was happening!

Exactly Nate. When they are putting out reverse 911 calls to warn the public then law enforcement WANTS the public to know what is going on and the more the public knows then the safer we all are.

Since jim202 posted his opinion here then I am sure he would agree that I should be able to post mine as well.

My opinion is that people from other parts of the country posting about what we in Colorado should or should not be interested in or have a right to know, does not make any sense and is actually really annoying. But that is my opinion.

Alright, any incident relating to the general safety of people that shuts down a major interstate should never mentioned or discussed by the general public. Only official news and public safety agencies are allowed to talk about it, got it. It's not like there weren't thousands of bystander witnesses to original pursuit.

To add to this, the Colorado forums did not become #2 (formerly #1 for years) in terms of post count on the RadioReference forums by keeping to ourselves. I've browsed many of the other state forums and it's very much interesting to see the discussion (or lack of) when something major happens locally. We generally enjoy sharing interesting incidents with each other and it is a shame to see that other members of other states feel that only they are entitled to monitor.

As for the whole privacy issue, I have never seen a post that has violated the privacy of anyone. We usually let the media do that afterwards.

Now, as I have finally gotten that out of the way, there was an officer safety BOLO in the early AM hours (I want to say between 1 and 3) out of I think Lakewood. The details included a distraught male subject who was going to drive around looking for an officer and provoke a suicide by officer situation of some sort. I wonder if this is related?

Really was very little suicidal issues if any involved in this call for those who monitored it was a dangerous high speed chase at 100Mph for many miles then a felony stop, surround and shooting and killing of the suspect by law enforcement.

Good work by the officers involved.
