Is there a list of the summons issued codes cops use when issuing a ticket? For example a cop issued a summons for 3 76 2F. I would like to know what that ticket was for.

The number listed on the summons,or in this case, the number you heard the officer call in is usually the state statute or city/county ordinance number that has been violated. These are different in every state, city, and county. Another possibility would be the citation number, but it doesnt sound like that in this case.

Seeing as you are in NJ I would assume this "code" is actually the NJ Title 39 statute number. For example, your 3 76 2F is actually 39:3-76.2F which is the statute that covers seabelt requirements.

A quick google search will turn up a list of the most common NJ Motor Vehicle statutes.
