Good evening,

I just bought this: https://www.polyphaser.com/8-21183 surge protector. Do I just install it on my antenna cable, install the protector on to a bracket and ground the bracket? I see the instructions, I just want to make sure.

Thank you guys!

Often they come with a bracket. If it didn't, you would install your own and ground that. I use copper grounding busses to mount ours, then the whole copper ground bar gets grounded.

I bought it “new open box” off of eBay. Maybe I’ll try and find a piece of aluminum angle and make one. I’ve got some stainless sheet I could bend. Thank you for clarifying it for me!

You can also use a large lug that fits over the threaded section.
I like that too. Seems like a more direct route. I’ll find the diameter of the protector and get one on order.

I’m monitoring 700-900 or so. The wattage is way more but the price was right.

This Polyphaser RGT arrestor on eBay is what I use.
Polyphaser retail is $123.99
eBay seller wants $14.99
I bought several because the cost of the replacement gas tube is more than the cost of the whole arrestor on eBay.
This is the real deal, not a copy.

This kit contains the grounding lug, lock washer and nut. The listing states ‘lot of 3’ but I seem to remember the listing is not for 3 of these, but since there are 3 pieces in the bag, that is how it is listed.

The eBay listing for the bracket has expired. This appears to be the same provided the hole for the arrestor is the right size.

Coaxial RF Surge Protector Kit, 24x DSXL and Mounting Hardware

1 - 4$1,870.00
that would be for each and if you buy from one to four of them.

Sigh - Note the 24X in the description. This is a kit containing 24 DSXL surge protectors plus mounting hardware. The price is $1,870 for 24 devices => $77.92 each.
