What's the deal with their mixed mode system? I have them plugged into the radio when I am down by Port Jervis, but I am not familar on how they use it..

Sussex county SD

It means that the SD uses both Conventional and Digital on 154.845. If in
Conventional mode, you use a PL of 103.5 and in Digital, you don't use PL
but need the Digital Card or the newer Digital Scanner with the Card built
into the Scanner.

I realize that...I am using an Astro Spectra to monitor them while I am down there, but I am curious on who is using what mode, etc, and for what... So far the little that I hear them, I can't figure out the logistics of how they are using it.

You didn't mention that. I just thought that you needed to know how to hear them. I don't know who is using what. I would guess that the SERT
Team is using Digital ? and everyone else Analog.
