SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Starting Tuesday, the Syracuse Police will be switching over to a new digital radio system. All other emergency responders will soon follow.

Syracuse Police to switch to digital radio system - NewsChannel 9 WSYR

Unfortunately, the era when we were listening radio ..is ending. Here in Europe, the police, firemen, and many others has moved to TETRAPOL wich is (by the moment) unreadable.
Someone anouced that the GSM system would be breakable...TETRA would be the next step..

Syracuse PD is on as of 4AM Febuary 2nd. It appears the systems is set up in multiple cells/towers. Only the Syracuse cell seems to be on. The control channel is 460.5000. This is not able to be heard on the west side of the county. The rest of the County is not turned on as of today.

Onondaga County is using P25, which is scannable.

A complete breakdown of the system and sites, per their FCC license, is available at NF2G.com.
