Whenever I load a new or changed system to my '396 and disconnect the cables, the scanner comes up scanning ALL systems. I then have to go in and toggle each quickkey off except for the one(s) I want at the moment. I now have over 30 systems programmed with quickkeys so if I'm experimenting with a new system it can get time consuming. Is there any way to stop or prevent this in software; an option or something? I've looked and haven't found any reference to this.

Thanks

I too find it annoying how all my systems become enabled after uploading a file. There is a solution to tell the scanner which system quickkeys in the scanner to enable after uploading; however, I don't remeber the specifics. Check the ARC396 Yahoo!Group for further info. Gommert said that there will be an option in the next software release where you can set the scanner to keep the same systems enabled/disabled as before you uploaded the new file.

Yes, I had the same thing happen to me.

Bear with me, I'm not in front of my computer that has ARC 396 installed right now.

What you need to do is open up on the menu bar the item called "setup" (I think) off to the right side on the top menu bar. There's options there to deal with the Quick Key set ups. On the bottom option of that drop down menu, there is a menu that deals with the radio's Quick Keys. On that menu, there's a button on the left to allow you to read the Quick Key settings from the radio. Do this, then click OK. Now, when you write to the radio, your current Quick Key settings should remain as they were before. Do this right before you write anything to the radio. If you don't, what happens (as you have seen) is that all Quick Keys will become enabled, whether you want them to or not, even if you only added or modified one new system to the radio.

Hope this helps.

I think you're referring to this:
Under View menu, Configuration Editor, System QKeys tab.

Yes, dimab, that's correct. I didn't have ARC 396 in front of me when I replied to the question, but that is the screen needed to read the Quick Key assignments from the radio.

Should be:
(On the menu bar) Setup > QuickKeys > System QuickKey Status; Then click "Read From Scanner".

396 Quickkey loading with ARC396

When you use ARC 396 and you click on a system ( any system ) you will see the dropdown box - snap 1 - . on the right side you will see a button "STATUS.

Push it and you will see - snap 3 -.

Then check only those you want laoded at start uo and write it to the scanner.

Hope this helps.

By default ARC396 will enable all systems to avoid the 'nothing to scan' error that confuses a lot of users. In ARC396 you can set the ' on/off status' of quickkeys and this is also saved in a profile.
In the 1.05 beta release you can select to upload the qkeys status or not (send data window).
