Re: T4WIN, Win XP Pro, & PRO-96

I've been messing around with T4Win for about a week now. I tapped the discriminator in my new Pro-96 (hope I never have to send it in!). I'm using the audio from the tap straight to the MIC input on my Toshiba laptop via the sound card, and a Pro-93 to monitor the system.

Here are a few screenshots.

hey chris, i noticed that you have the freqs in your 1st shot. did you have to put them in or did t4win do it for you? i cant seem do get my window to show the freqs like it does in trunker? i am using the sound card but can't leave it plugged in to long cause it freezes my PC,

When I run T4WIN some of the frequencies come up on their own. They will not all appear. Only the ones that are active. In order to get them in LCN as I have them set up it must be done manually. I entered them myself and then saved them as 'default.xml'. Then as the talkgroups start appearing, I rename them accordingly and save it again. The 'unidentified' TG's I save in RED so they show up clearer and I can get my monitoring scanner and listen to that specific TG to find a clue as to who or what is using it. There are quite a few popping up that aren't listed in the RR Database here. Eventually I hope to get most if not all figured out.

As to why I tapped my 96 vs the 93 or 2053? Hmm..I guess it was because I found a post on this forum regarding the ease of doing so, and the generous amount of space inside the case to accomodate the mod.

I'll probably end up tapping the 2053 next. As for the digital, I am on the road a LOT and recently started bringing the 96 so I can listen to digital and analog systems wherever I may be at the time (hotel room). Right now I'm in Raleigh NC listening to the State of NC system mixed APCO25 and analog. I'm going to try P96 in a bit and see how it performs, so long as my hardware is set up right that is.

Lou, I was making a tongue in cheek statement above that's why the 8) icon is there. The 96 travels with me most of the time. It's neat being able to listen to various digital systems around the country. The LAPD has a real interesting system.http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&aid=37

Chris,

I guess I just drew an invalid conclusion; I saw that you had tapped the 96 and that you wanted to use the it for APCO-25 systems. I drew the conclusion that you had discovered something useful from baseband audio in relation to the APCO25 control stream. Guess I got excited (since no one else has done it) thinking you had found out something new.

Well with RS providing the interface via the PC/IP port of the Pro-96, and with the recent programs (P96Com and P96Dump) written to read that stream, I guess no one will bother to develop a piece of software to read the baseband audio APCO25 CC data stream; not to mention the pain that a 4 level slicer is to assemble. The bottom line for APCO-25 systems is to read Trunker style data and listen to the system you will continue to need two digital trunking scanners and one has to be a Pro-96. :)
