In the Uniden discussion of changes required to scanners during rebanding there is a reference to tables stored in the scanner that allow the scanner to go to the correct frequencies to follow a talk group during CC or control channel trunking. All my older Uniden scanners do not support CC and require that all system frequencies be entered in the bank. Would that mean that these radios do not use the tables and rebanding will not be a problem for those scanners. If that is true, is it possible that all scanners would continue to work if CC trunking was not used and all system frequencies were entered ?

No, it wouldn't matter if you entered all the system frequencies, it still wouldn't work.

There are some scanners that trunk by using the on-channel 'slow speed' data. Those scanners need all the frequencies on the system, and will not be affected by the rebanding other than needing reprogrammed.

The same is true for scanners that do not use CC trunking. Since they do not get the channel info from the CC, they will also not be affected.

For those scanners that will accept the tables, you can also program them with the tables and they will still work [such as the PRO-(20)96] with simple reprogramming.

I'm not sure exactly how the older Uniden models trunk, so I won't comment on those. You will know soon enough.

There will also be some systems that will likely continue to use the existing controllers, so the older scanners may still work on some systems. Not every 800 trunked system will be changing.

While this is true, I don't think Uniden ever made such a scanner.

I assume you mean CC only mode, as to my knowledge all Uniden scanners require the CC to be programmed. And yes those old scanners do use the CC information to get to the programmed channel; other than the ones mentioned in Paul's announcement, I assume that on rebanding, those radios will become conventional scanners.

They also never made a PRO-96. My comments are in general. I didn't say there are some Uniden scanners that do that.
