Finally bought my first tablet. Its an 8 in. HP 8 G2. Its an entry level Android Kit Kat 4.4.2. Quadcore A33. 16 GB of memory. I added a 32 GB micro card.... My son has a 10 in. Nexus witch is about 2 1/2 yrs old with the latest version of Android which is 5.0.2 Lollypop....My question is.... Why doesn't my new 8 in. update to what his older 10 in. has?

It is stuck with android 4.4.2 because of the low grade components it was built with.

Google will never certify it to run a higher version of android.

the nexus 10 is a much better tablet with much better components.

that is also why the HP 8 G2 is a $100 tablet where the nexus 10 is a $450 tablet.

I just upgraded my Galaxy S5 phone to Lollipop.. Was a great phone, now it's laggy, stuff crashes all the time.. When I can find directions, I'm going back to KitKat

OK Thanks. Kinda what I thought but had to hear it from someone else... My phone is over 2 yrs old. Its a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. It was free. The last version is now offered at a nice price. Free. I don't think I ever paid for a phone yet. Maybe I don't need Lollipop. Didn't see that much difference anyway
