Can anybody provide info on how these two counties assign tac / response channels? Queen Anne County typically uses Tac 3 for most fire or rescue responses - do these counties more or less follow the same pattern considering they used to partners in the same system?

Talbot and Caroline both use Fire Tac 3 for Fire / Rescue responses and Fire Tac 4 for EMS responses. If those channels are already in use for an incident then other channels will be assigned as other calls for service come in.

Thanks for the info, I suspected that was the case since QAC basically does the same.

Any word on when the two additional site frequencies will be added to the Talbot site? And what do you guys internally call the Bozman site? Bozman or St. Michaels (or "Bozman (St. Michaels)" as it is listed in the RRDB?)

Per my radio guy the changes will be "soon", not only can you expect the additional frequencies but some changes to Law Tac channels and some additional channels that I think were mentioned in the FiRST thread.

To answer your question regarding the Bozman site, I've heard it called the "Bozman site", "Bozman tower", "St Michaels Tower" and "Bozman ASR". So take your pick :)

DES seems to refer to it as Bozman ASR.

Fire incidents in Talbot run in the following tac channel order, one incident per channel.
3, 2, 5, 6, 7

EMS incidents are nearly always tac 4, even if multiple calls are happening at once.

Dorchester is different. They typically start on tac 2 for fire. It'll be interesting to see what happens when they switch to FiRST

Yea, a long time ago First documents mentioned St. Michaels, but I think that was more about the area the tower was needed, than referencing a specific site. Once the parcel was acquired in Bozman, the references changed to Bozman ASR - at least it has on CAPRAD (misspelled as Bozeman,) and in testimony before the county council. The Baltimore Tunnels site was also referred to as McHenry at one point.

Any idea about the reasoning behind tac channel order? Why not consecutive in ascending order? Maybe an equipment issue or another reason when the UMES system first came online?

Off topic but instead of starting a new thread...

I have been hearing these users id's on Talbot Law. Any idea what they stand for since must officers use TS-__ as their id's.

LX?
SM?

Talbot County has two other municipalities they service for 911 Police Dispatch, being St Michaels Police (SM) and Oxford Police (OX). I believe those are what you are hearing. Easton PD (E) integrated into Talbot's 911 Center last year but they still maintain their own dispatch and tac channels because they are significantly more busy with traffic and calls.

That is most likely what I am hearing. Thank you!

SM is Saint Michaels police.
OX is Oxford police.
TR used to be Trappe police but they don't currently have any officers on the payroll.

All these call signs will be heard on the Talbot Sheriff tgids.

Easton police has their own tgids.

Not sure I can shed much light on that. For as long as I've been in town (14yrs) Talbot UESC was TAC3 for fire, TAC4 for medical and then additional fire incidents utilize TAC2 then TAC5. When Talbot switched to FiRST, the same scheme was adopted along with additional TAC6 & TAC7. Most likely the reasoning was that the burden of re-training all the volunteers outweighed any benefit of changing the channel order.
