To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone know how the PCB and rocker assembly come out to repair the leaf switches in an hmn1038a desk mic?

I got the base plate, back and front covers off. However I am struggling to free the pcb and rocker button assembly.

Can anyone provide some insight? I don't want to break it further.

Thanks.

The pin the rockers pivot on, pull the clip off and collapse the pin inward. Pull the whole banana downward.

Oh.
Pull this clip and the pin retracts. That is a neat design.

Wow. That worked well. Thanks.

I took this apart to see what's wrong with the PTT switch.

Pressing the switch on the top end, keys the mic without issue. However, it seems to have lost the "throw" distance and the user has to press hard or quickly. Both I feel will damage it further. Is there any corrective action that can be made?

The monitor switch, doesn't have this issue . Presumably because it is used far less frequently.

There doesn't seem to be any worn away material.

How does it respond when you press in at the top/vertical, above the tx spark? That is my usual way of PTT. When that way is used, the bottom/horizontal part will lift up.

Pressing the side button keys every time, especially with a continuity test. In that manner the horizon potion of the button lifts up according.

Pressing it down is intermittent. the top side leads out pulling the leaf switch, just not enough it seams.
There is no issue with the monitor button.
