High Battery Drain Follow-up
Just a follow up on what I am finding with FRESH alkaline batteries. After burning through 3 sets of different makes, (Raocvac, Energizer, No-name) I am quite shocked at how fast the batteries are draining - even when the radio is off!
I dont know if the LCD display is the problem- dont know why it should be- but after a new set, the radio is almost dead after four days of power off, and then about 5- 10 minutes of on time. Volume kept is low to reduce current use. Backlight kept off. I am quite dissapointed.
Could this be a defect? Timer is off, so its not turning on at some unnoticed time.
I will try the reset button, but cant imagine it making a difference.
Looks like I will have to be taking the batteries out when not in use- not something I should have to do.
As noted before, using the radio from the install of a fesh set seems to also eat up batteries in the matter of 3- 4 hours.
Full charged batteries are required as performance really drops as battery charge drops below half on the bar display.
Back for an exchange? Typical for this radio? I have never seen this much current use in any of my previous portables...any technical advice or ideas ?
