Hi,

Today, to my surprise, when i tried to tune my Tecsun PL 680 radio, there was zero signal in all the bands( AM,FM,SW,AIR,LW). I am unable to tune to any frequency. I have even reset it and also attached the external antenna, however nothing seems to be working. When i tried tuning some other radio set just for test , it was working fine.
What might be the issue with my PL 680? I seldom use this set and today was the first time i tried tuning it after a gap of more than one year. Can anyone explain to me about this issue?

Try a cold reboot, i.e. remove all power, all batteries, let it sit for a while, then repower it with a fully charged battery. I've been able to re-set a radio that way. I haven't had one act like your Tecsun, but I did have a Grundig G2 that wigged -- All of a sudden was tuning MW in 9 kHz steps, wouldn't keep its memories, wouldn't keep its settings, lost all of its memories, etc. Reset by itself didn't work. I had to depower the radio, let it sit, then repower it. I also hit 're-set' after repowering it with a fresh battery. It fixed the issues. I even got my memories back.

With my G2 I think the issue was because the rechargeable battery was low, and old. I think when rechargeables get old, they wig a bit when they get down to one bar or less of battery on the meter, and that wigging can glitch the microprocessor that runs the radio. Since I had to reset my G2, I always recharge that battery when it hits one bar. I also have newer spare rechargeables I use.

Hopefully with your Tecsun just a simple cold reboot will fix it. It would at least be worth a try. Good luck.
