My remote works perfectly, the tuning knob is kind of doing what yours is doing. This is my 2nd one as the first one I bought had a bad knob. I had it for a couple of weeks and the tuning knob started getting stiff and eventually you couldn't even turn it. All in all it's been a decent radio but I wouldn't really tell people to run out and buy one.It does well and sounds good.
Mine has 2 rather annoying glitches:
1) When I am tuning around SW Bands with the Main Tuning Knob - and when I first start to rotate the knob - sometimes it tunes backwards 5 Khz first then starts tuning in the direction I tune
2) My Remote is - well lets say iffy: I have to watch very closely as I enter frequencies as it misses many key hits

I have an old commradio cr1 receiver that has potentiometer problems as did a lot of them. I haven't used it in years but I think I'll try to locate it & try to spray contact cleaner like you suggested for the 8800. Is there a specific brand of cleaner you would suggest?I had the same trouble with an entirely different radio, a Sangean ATS-909X. Spraying some contact cleaner down the tuner shaft solved the problem. Apparently the contacts were either dirty or oxidized. I wonder if your radio has the same kind of tuner, which is a decoder with brush contacts, like a potentiometer.
I just received my replacement remote it works perfectly
Great place to order from & fast shipping.I am thinking of ordering a Tecsun PL-600 from anon-co and was wondering what the service was like. Sounds like it's a good place to deal with.

Caig Laboratories series of R cleaners, such as R-5. They work well.I have an old commradio cr1 receiver that has potentiometer problems as did a lot of them. I've been using one branded "NeXtech" that contains isopropanol, isobutane and propane (nice and flammable). It seems to have been sold originally by Radio Shack, but I bought it locally from a store named "The Source", which used to be Radio Shack, but was bought out by Bell here in Canada. I can tell you one thing: The Source is certainly not a source for radio equipment or parts.I have an old commradio cr1 receiver that has potentiometer problems as did a lot of them. At any rate, the spray works just fine, and hasn't damaged any of my equipment.
