AR-DV10 TETRA Recording

Hello,

I live in a area where I have P25, DMR, NXDN and clear TETRA systems and have been very tempting to purchase the DV-10. I would like to hear from DV-10 users on their experience with audio recordings feature and whether it is possible to record and playback, with GSSI and ISSI information using the Tetra GSSI user group filtering add-on.

The headline is the DV10 with the GSSI add-on and USAP should meet your needs.

The DV10 has a fairly basic recording feature* for [TETRA] audio, records the full session to a single .wav file (up to about 100Mb then starts a new one, it doesnt do per call recording). You really need Universal Scanner Audio Player (USAP)** Universal Scanner Audio Player to make sense of the recordings. It can break down the large wav file into per call audio, even without the GSSI add-on. On anything but the most basic TETRA setup I'd recommend the GSSI add-on, if just for simply the metadata it adds to the audio files. USAP allows you playback per call and it displays the correct GSSI, ISSI and Slot. With USAP's features, you can sort and filter on GSSI or ISSI so it makes it ideal for identifying users/usage etc.

Overall I find the DV10 is very average vs many other digital scanners, and probably has the least advanced audio recording. But with USAP it gets back on par, and is excellent with the GSSI add-on for TETRA: IMHO much better than SDR# with the TETRA add-on, although the latter is much better at logging system usage/registration metadata etc.

PM me if you need more info: it's an expensive scanner, so you'll likely want to ask before you buy.

*Except that non-TETRA raw discriminator recording is a really nice feature not found elsewhere

I came to re-discover USAP. I used to have the software for the BCD436HP and it made review logged audio much more painless. Glad to hear the software is useable with the DV10 platform as well.

I am familiar and have used the sq5bpf and TETRA trunk tracker on SDR# for many years, it has served me well but I have run into some VB runtime issues or SDR# drifting and leaving the TETRA trunk tracker stale for hours. My primary listening routine is to let the receiver sit and record activity over several days and I go back to review anything notable or new discoveries, so hopefully the DV10 will serve me well.
