Texas DPS Laredo

Has anyone else noticed that TXDPS Laredo has been quiet lately? When they do come over the scanner it sounds low in volume.

Can't really speak to your Laredo monitoring, but here in N TX there is more use of the county TG in Parker Co either from Dallas or the Mineral Wells dispatch center. The main VHF channels have indeed been very quiet.

They might be patched to the local trunked system or GATRRS. Here in San Antonio, they are on the local system and patched to the LCRA system. I have also noticed the troopers will respond to mdt messages over the radio and vice versa. So it can be very quiet at times.

I listen to DPS Laredo here: TX DPS Laredo Sector Dispatch and Mobile Live Audio Feed

It's talking quite often and the sound quality is good and not low volume

I had thought that a state system too be used by DPS was in the future ? Could this be the reason ?

DPS in Laredo sounds fine to me. They are still using their conventional P25 frequencies. GATRRS is losing sites in the area so I doubt they will ever move over to them. The only DPS stuff I hear on GATRRS is from the Del Rio region that sporadically comes out from the Botines tower. My guess is only when there's a unit close enough to affiliate to it.
