Text tagging in PSR 300/400

Can you manually enter a talkgroup ID and then assign it a text tag or do you have to wait for a transmission, lock on to it, and then enter/tag it? I read in another post (can't find it now) about someone who couldn't get the scanner to take the information manually. And I'm talking about keypad entry as I'm assuming using software you can enter all of this information from the beginning.

Yes, you can enter a talkgroup ID and alpha tag manually, however a bug fix for the manual entry of an LTR talkgroup has yet to be released. An easier way would be to use the Starrsoft Win97 program to manipulate the data.
