Ah, yes the manual, I have seen it. The problem that I am having is when I turn the radio off and back on the PLs are off then I have to toggle them back on.

I'm going to take a guess here that the tones weren't added to the channels when you programmed the radio. I have found that when I turn a radio off and back on, any parameters that were changed will revert back to their programmed values. This might be your problem.

Perhaps you programmed the tone values in but not the tone states in. The radio may know that you want to use a 110.9 tone (for example) but you have it programmed to carrier squelch, not transmit tone, receive tone, or both. This would explain why you see the tones set but the radio doesn't activate them by default.

When you have a memory channel up, you can modify it on the fly but this is only temporary. Power off/on or change channel and go back will dump what you have just changed.

What you need to do is set up the channel all over again in VFO. Make sure you turn on your PL tone this time! Then do a memory write to that location. Now it is permanent.
