Yes folks, we now have a wiki in beta:

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/wiki

Get in there, create an account (it is seperate from your normal radioreference.com user ID), and starting adding content.

Eventually, with your help, all static content (trunked system type information, policies, reference info, receiver and scanner radio information, common frequencies etc) will all be here.

Best thing is that ALL users can edit and create new pages.... so this will become the biggest work in progress reference for the scannning community.

Good luck, please contribute, and feel free to add (and migrate) what you want.

(Of course, the RadioReference.com Database will be the primary place for all local/state/etc frequencies etc)

Thanks!

so now we can put freqs into the databases ourself ?? im new to this whats this for ??
No, it is not for putting frequencies in. That, as Lindsay said in the post, is what the database is for. The Wiki is for you to be able to read and add to (if you have something useful to say) things like FAQ's, Instructions on programming radios, etc. It is not to take the place of these forums nor the database. It is supposed to contain all that stuff which can be linked off of the Home page here, that hardly anyone looks at. 8)

its more less a scanner faq and help website ?
aye.

Anybody that has been around long enough has seen the same topics talked about over and over and over and over and over. Usually the wrong information gets mutated into a fact.

By placing the correct information into the wiki about radios and scanners and stuff in general .. we can get newbies up to speed quicker.

Whilest it may seem like a huge free-for-all, the wiki can be locked down so be good. ;)

Seems that without constant moderation it could become the Blog of FAQs.

Much data / Little information.

Lok at how "facts" are argued in the forums.

Who is going to decide what information is actually correct with everyone adding to it?

You will, and if your facts aren't "right", then we can revert.

LOL, everyone here (well at least AZscanner, and a few others) KNOWS I am always wrong!

Maybe I am just "of little faith", but after a few of the knock-down-drag-outs we have had on the forum, I would be concerned they same could happen there.
