I didn't want this thread to digress into a politically motivated discussion, I was more hoping that Texas members in the border area would realize the new DPS asset was around so they could start listening for it on the radio, and could report it's unit number/callsign.
You're right and I want to apologize for allowing myself to be drawn into that OT debate. I know better, indeed it is my job to stop such things from happening, so I will just drop my participation on that OT branch and encourage others (primarily those from Texas) to continue the discussion on either sightings, or information on deployment of the boat(s). It would be interesting to know when they actually get into action.

KVUE had this news story tonight.

Looks like this is the first of 6 (at $580K per vessel). It has a draft of < 12", and has room for 6 of the 240-Bravos. They're expecting it to be operational on the Big River early 2012.

I saw This story today. Said boats (Glass and hulls) would be armored. Also said eventually the Marine Unit will consist of 40 Troopers.

I like how the article says it has "900-horsepower engines" when it clearly has three 300 hp engines, that would ideally total 900 hp.
