Basically tonight i was bored and installed a disc tap on my 246t, downloaded unitrunker and decided to test it on the tbay PD radio system. However im now 100% on what the information gathered means... for say an EDACS96 system? Ive added a few screen shots if someone wants to take a look

ps i noticed in the info about unitrunker that it will display if there is a provoice channel "...the program detects ProVoice. If you see "ProVoice System 1" displayed ... you've found a ProVoice voice channel.". This has not been displayed, so could this mean that the tbay PD arent using provoice?

I dont think by a 246T but maybe with a digital EDACS scanner? maybe? The problem that i have is that im not sure what the information from unitrunker is saying. also something to note when i was watching ice racing this past weekend, listening to the security, i would pick up similiar tones to the control towers in the 866.xxxx range somewhere in the 170.xxxx range (cant remember the exact frequency) but its CH5 on our motorola 2 way radios.

Do you think you could post the frequencies/LCN's for the TB Police System?

There is no such thing as a digital EDACS scannner.. there are no Provoice/Aegis scanner on the market at this time and I doubt will be any time soon either. If the tg's are analog then ya a 246T will pick them up fine.

866.0375, 866.2875, 866.2650 are the 3 towers that i have the frequecy for...the fourth i dont know what it is and it was 170.3125 that had the odd chirps and beeps.

what i understand from this is that if the talkgroups are digital on an edacs system its either provoice/aegis? correct me if im wrong.
last night i also noticed that there were a few analog calls made but only about 4 that i noticed...possibly radio techs?

Yes depending on the ages of the system.. older systems might be AEGIS but most likely if TB is digital they are Provoice. Actually I am not sure if there are many AEGIS systems left. I think Midland is AEGIS Conventional but that is the only one off the top of my head that I can think of.

Greater Sudbury Police use AEGIS...tho , a MOT system is in the future so im told.

The Unitrunker shots show the system is a edacs 9600 baud ( EDACS96 ) - and the screen says DIGITAL ..seeing a TB Police just got this system, Id say Provoice is what they might be using.

Kinda odd tho 866.0375 is also Sudburys Control Channel...

Provoice

I am pretty sure that when i started a thread about T-Bay Police going digital last year i had mentioned that i found an article somewhere on google from one of T-Bays council meetings stating that T-Bay Police had gone with a Provoice system since it was "unmonitorable and secure, giving police more safety while doing their jobs"

I've been wishing for a year to be able to listen to them again like i used to be able to, but ya, that wont be happening anytime soon...
