The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, will honor frontline COVID-19 responders and essential workers with formation flights over San Antonio and Austin May 12.

Flyovers in San Antonio will start at 1:20 P.M. (CDT) and last approximately 30 minutes.
Flyovers in Austin will start at 2:30 P.M. (CDT) and last approximately 25 minutes.
Residents in these areas will be able to see the flyover from the safety of their home-
quarantine and should maintain all social distancing guidelines during this event. They should also refrain from traveling to landmarks, hospitals and gathering in large groups to view the flyover. A detailed flight route will be released on the day prior to the flyover.
The flyover date and times are subject to change due to weather and operational
requirements.
The team welcomes viewers to tag the flyover on social media with the hashtag #AmericaStrong and #Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds have use 141.175 MHz AM for air to air in the past. We will see if they use the frequency when they get here.

The Thunderbirds are a big hit here in the San Antonio area. They will be back here for the air show at JBSA-Lackland on Nov 14 & 15. If the air show is not canceled.

Do the Thunderbirds go back to Nellis AFB after every COVID flyover??? I live in Boerne and wonder if I could see them on their way to S. A.

I have the common military air in my BCD436 and Common Air and KSAT Airport. I would guess they will be in contact with KSAT Tower during the flyovers???

They almost flew over my location. They flew over Randolph AFB and then turned to the north and went around me. I was listening on the radio.

Thanks

A US Navy escort jet pilot issued a ground stop - no fly order to all the local towers clearing the local area
except for these authorized News Helicopters during Fly Overs to cover this special patriotic military event.

N6QD - Bell JetRanger Owner = Helicopters, Inc - KENS Sky5 / KSAT Sky12 shares leased Helo (450.6125 Simplex)

N61CL - Bell JetRanger Owner = Helicopters, Inc - WOAI Sky4 leases helo (463.8875 Downtown LTR Passport Home)

Nxxxx - DEA HIDTA Drug surveillance Helo flying 1200 ft over San Pedro and Oblate ( landed to refuel prior event )

Is this an active freq for them normally?

Hello otter, 2 freqs are a must have for me in SATX: 450.6125 FM and 123.025 AM helo pilots air to air !
I also submitted the LTR Passport TG# 64493 homed to the downtown Bowie site used by WOAI Sky 4 helo.
Yes this is their normal freq 450.6125 PL=151.4 in our Bexar/Media RRDB section I submitted 8+ years ago.
It is shared by both KENS 5 and KSAT 12 for their Sky News leased helicopter kept at a Stinson Field hanger.
It is active daily during the 5pm and 10pm news for "beauty shots" and for live coverage event crew comms.
When needed the pilot of N6QD a Bell JetRanger owned by Helicopters, Inc can show either side as desired.
