I think everyone needs to go into there OddCast so it shows the title of there stream properly. The majority of the ones I have checked out, all say RadioReference.com which is fine I suppose, but if someone wanted to bookmark these or atleast see the title show up then it needs to change.

I have went into the configure part in the YP settings an changed the name on mine so it shows up as Quinte Region, ON Canada

Just a food for thought out here folks!

And btw, thanks for providing this service. This is a great spot to have everyones feeds all in one spot. Duplicates or not. Now this is definitely taking this hobby to a whole new level.

Again, thanks.

What do Gordon and Lindsay want it to show? When it was just my feed I'd put whatever I want. Now that I'm being compensated a complimentary premium subscription, I'd like to know what is expected.

I'm also wondering, what is a program I could possibly use that might work for me which is not troublesome to figure out that I could send text tags to my feed?

I tried the one that Gorden promoted before and it worked quite well and he helped me set it up, but I found it a hassle trying to keep it up to par.

Any other suggestions. I have one in mind, but I can't run ARC396 with it, while it's running.

I did see that, I did download it, however I don't think it's working properly.

Had some sort of error message come up when I tried to start it. The other thing I don't like, although can't really get around is being able to run that along side ARC396 because of port issues. The other issue I have is being able to send the feed to 2 different sources. Ex. IBN and RR. although I know of a way I can fix that issue.

It's definitely worth taking a look at though.

IdleMonitor:

If you're using a Uniden 396/996 or GRE 500/600 for your feed, you should give PeterGV's ScannerCast program a try for sending tags with your feed. It's a great all-in-one program that also happens to be free thanks to Peter. Go to this thread for all the information about the program:

If it's giving you the error when you enter in the auto-config settings, then I think there is the option to Continue or something like that. I just do that and everything works fine. Ignore the error for now. I know Peter is aware of it.

The other thing I don't like, although can't really get around is being able to run that along side ARC396 because of port issues.

This will happen any time you are using a program like ScannerCast which must have access to the port to obtain the tag information. You can use an audio-only application (Icecast/Shoutcast/etc) and you'll still have access via ARC396, but you won't have alpha tags on your stream then.

The other issue I have is being able to send the feed to 2 different sources. Ex. IBN and RR. although I know of a way I can fix that issue.

This shouldn't be a problem - The audio device is shared. Just set the same audio device for both applications. If you are wanting to stream tags on both RR and IBN, that won't happen for the same reason you mentioned above (port contention) - You could stream one with tags and one without.

It's definitely worth taking a look at though.

Indeed - Peter is constantly updating the application.

If you wanted to stream to both RR and IBN, stream with tags to one of them using Scannercast and then stream to the other one [without tags] using Icecast/Shoutcast.

I too had a few bad downloads of Peter's software. I had curropted .exe files three times. All from Peter's download link. Look like good software, I'd love to try it.

I discovered this service, and I'm so happy I don't have to shell out $200 for a scanner radio now!

But when I open a stream in iTunes, and I change the name to something more descriptive than ScanAmerica.us or RadioReference.com, it changes back to the original title the next time I open the stream!
I see problems with that.
