• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi Guys I was wondering if you all can help me out I have the KPG89D software and Im a little lost on how to get a LTR system programed on it for example in trucking zone it asks for a Encode id and decode id which it only allows up to three numbers to be entered and also doesn't the freq. have to be entered in a LCN order so it will be able to properly track the system.

Thanks

At a minimum, to get a trunked system up and running, you will need the system frequency list, home channel, area code, and ID number.

Frequency list - an LTR system can have up to 20 repeaters to choose from. You need the freq list for your system and enter them in the correct slot, 1 to 20. It may have only 2 or 3, or maybe 15 or all 20, but they have to be in the right order and right slot (LCN).

Your system admin will assign a home channel (1 to 20) and ID. Home channel must be correct as this is the first repeater your radio will try to connect to. Only if this repeater is busy will the system issue a trunk off to your radio if you try to transmit. Next is ID (001 to 255). Only valid ID's are programmed into the system. Think of it like PL's. Every user gets a different ID. Don't pay for your airtime? Your ID is disabled. Normally encode and decode IDs are the same, although split IDs could be used.

Last is the area code. Usually it is set to 0. If systems overlap, one system may specify area code 1. This is used to prevent false decodes from the overlap. Use what is assigned.

In KPG89D, set a zone as trunking, go there and enter IDs (plus other info), then click "REPEATER" at bottom and fill in other info.

If you're still stuck, cry uncle...
