To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello

looking for some assistance on programming a tk-7150. Specifically the PTT function. I have the programming software and have looked at all the tabs and fields. I would like to use the rig for packet radio. Under optional features, Extended functions there are some pins defined under connect to modulation line
that will allow me to change the function. But unsure where to assign the settings below. Any help is really appreciated

PTT = You can use one of the Auxiliary input pins, however you will need to program that pin to do PTT. Pin 12 = AI4, Pin 13 = AI2, Pin 21 = AI1, Pin 24 = AI3

Audio out = Pin 17 is filtered audio output, 700mv peak to peak There is also a detector output at pin 19.

Audio in = depend on what you want. MI2 (Mic Input 2) is on pin 6, but you'll need to program the radio to use that audio input.

Ground = Pin 7, Pin 11, Pin 18, Pin 25 (specifically Mic Ground)

Pick an aux in and program it for External PTT Voice

Rx audio - since 1200 baud packet is AFSK use the AFO filtered audio on pin 17.

TX audio - use MI2 mic input. Pre emphasized and will match all other radios using AFSK (mostly). Be aware spec to this input is 5 mV rms.

If you have a separate mic ground land it on pin 25. If only one ground line use either 7, 11, or 18.

Should be good to go.
