• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Quick question, on the back of the DB connection, which pin outs will give de-emp and de-emp audio?

Am I right in seeing that:
Pin 19 = COS
Pin 7 = GND
Pin 3 = TX
Audio In = ?
Audio Out = ?

Ideally I would like audio at 1200 and 9600 if possible, due to a project that I am thinking of putting the radio to use on. I am hoping that this would be possible from the various pin outs on the back. I guess it's where they "tap" the audio from in the circuit

Every radio manufacturer has their own terminology for what they call each pin....
Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the full pinout for the DB-25 connector on the back of the radio:
1. No Connection
2. RXD - Serial Data input 1
3. TXD - Serial Data Input 1
4. Aux I/O 9
5. Data Signal Input
6. External Mic Input
7. Ground
8. Aux I/O 8
9. TXD - Serial Data input 2
10. RXD - Serial Data input 2
11. Ground
12. Aux I/O 7
13. Aux I/O 6
14. Power Output in conjunction with the power switch.
15. Aux Out 2
16. Aux Out 1
17. Received Filtered Audio Output
18. Ground
19. Detected Signal Output
20. Aux I/O 5
21. Aux I/O 4
22. Aux I/O 3
23. Aux I/O 2
24. Aux I/O 1
25. ME (Mic Ground)

Many of the pins are programmable, using the KPG software and the HELP function will give you some more information. If you really run into some issues, let me know and I'll do what I can to assist.

Got it! Thanks for the prompt reply.
So it should be possible to obtain de-emp and pre-emp audio?
I am unable to access the program at the moment hence the question.
If it is able to either tap via the pin or via programming, then this radio looks interesting
