Tone out tones

We have fire north and fire south in our county. I have set the tones for my local department which is on fire north with other departments. When I go back to regular scanning and not on my departments tone out tones I always have tones goining off on the fire north frequency. Help as it is annoying everytime dispatch keys up to have the tone go off

So you're using the Fire Tone Out feature and when turning it off to go back to regular scanning, its not shutting off?

Whether the tone out feature is turned on or off does not control whether the tones come over that frequency.

Right, so that is why you can't stop it as long as you are on that frequency.

Still, as long as you are ON that frequency, you'll hear the tones.
