i was going through metro today and have programed the fire and ems into my pro 96,
i did not hear anything from them.
I programed the towers into two separate banks one for ems and the other for fire , also with the TG's for each.
Can south
bell tower
young 401
widdicombe
and the Tg from Jan 7-2011 toronto public safety.
base 141.01500
off set 380
step 15.00
Can some one tell me if this is right
ill be waiting to hear
thanks

I dont have an Pro96 but I dont think you needed all the offsets and such you listed. Those (and the other offsets) are only necessary for the Fleetnet system not the 800 Motorola system that Toronto uses. If it had been entered properly you would heard a steady stream of action, the megacity (no longer called metro BTW) never sleeps. I am sure that others here could teach you how to program the system or send you a file.

Ummm.... no. That info is for Fleetnet. PD/Fire/EMS are 800mhz, not VHF, and most EMS dispatching is done over their workstations now so there is very little radio traffic.

I believe the South tower is the busy one... but I'm sure all of them have their fair share of traffic.

metro ems -fire

so your saying you do not need the base offset and step to listen to T.O
i use the win 96 programe to down load the frquencies and TG and it requires these areas to be filled in , but it has an option to put in 406 for base and off set 380 and step 25 which I think is for the 800 .
can you tell me if this is right

No no.... you don't need to fill those in. Putting in a value of 406 would be for a 400mhz UHF system. Just to the left of where you are putting that data in you will see a box called 'MOT 3600 CC'... make sure it's set to 'Normal'.... That will grey out the MOT Custom Table box and you won't have to worry about any of that stuff.

You'll want the South Zone.

South Zone is the "home" zone for all of EMS, which means it will ALWAYS show up on that zone.

Great. Thanks. Is it the same (« home ») tower for PD and FD

It is the "home" site for 14 Division from 1 District and all of 5 District (51 to 55 Div)

It is the home site for Toronto Fire Dispatch.

The Fire TAC's are then assigned geographically to their site.

Basically here's what you want:

South Zone:
-Fire Dispatch
-Fire South
-Toronto EMS
-TPS Zone 1
-TPS Zone 5
-TPS Zone 6
-TPS Zone 7
-TPS Zone 8
-TPS Zone 9

North Zone:
-Fire North
-TPS Zone 3

East Zone:
-Fire East
-TPS Zone 3

West Zone:
-Fire West
-TPS Zone 2

Note: Any TG can be heard anywere with one exception (below), if a radio is affiliated to another zone as long as it is active on that particular talkgroup, however the above "map" is how you should have it set up to ensure you /always/ pick them up.

Toronto Fire Dispatch will ONLY ever show up on South Zone, so you must "hard code" those talkgroups to South, otherwise you'll miss comms.

How about TPS Zone 4?

The poster has a Pro-96 he can do the multisite trick.
Put in all 4 towers and scan them all.

Tower 1 control channel
Regular fm freq like 1300.0000 entered as FM not trunking
Tower 2 control channel
1300 fm
Tower 3 cc
1300 fm
Tower4 cc
1300 fm

That's a great idea for a traveller who just wants to sacrifice one bank for programming.

Yes you still set the bank and frequencies up for Mot trunking, but you put the control channels for each site in one bank, instead of one bank per site. I had mine setup like that for Fleetnet... The theory is you need to enter a conventional channel between trunked frequencies for it to work best. I've tried it with and without the dummy channels in between and it seemed to work just the same as far as I could tell.
