Don't forget that the lamps are designed to be on solid or flash using a circuit that doesn't simply turn on and off the voltage, but quickly dims and brightens it as it turns on and off. Simply turning on and off will cause the expensive bulb (especially when you include the cost of labor to change it) to fail much more quickly.
OOOOhhhhh...I didn't even think of that. Well, an option would be to replace the sockets with standard household jobbers and run 150W el-cheapo buck store bulbs in it...after all, it's the housing and lens that are the neat parts.
It's a testament to how cool your new light is that we're all over-analyzing this for you
