• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is anyone able to confirm that the latest TP9900 firmware version does include FPP, and if so, if an SFE key is required? I'm getting conflicting info from dealers about it.

I am just waiting to see if Tait will ever make it so the radio can scan Analog and DMR on same scan list....That and if they can actually make the keypad produce DTMF sounds on the fly

Finally got system keys. I wrote our system to the 9960. I went to make some additional parameter changes and npw the radio wont Read/Interrogate or Write. I tried the 9860 and the software and cable talks to it just fine. Tried the Factory template and it will also not Read/Write. I can't imagine I corrupted the radio already! "There has been a communication error with the radio (Communication Timeout). Check the radio is powered on and is attached correctly to the PC, and the correct COM port is selected. If problems persist please try Safe mode on the options form." Anyone had this happen??

Resolved! Per Tech Support: When Reading or Programming, Power off the unit and back on. This kicks it into "Programming Mode". It will then Read/Write. I don't recall having to do that previosly but now you do.

Yeah, this is a major stumbling block for me. I can understand not doing P25/DMR at the same time but Analog is a bit of a must for both modes. Hopefully there is a patch to add it into the "other half"

How much does this radio cost?
Just got quoted recently at around 2400-2600 CAD for the base radio.... That isn't too bad but the P25 PII package adds on another 1700-1800ish. Was hoping for a bit less (sales guy said numbers in the sub 3000 region which is true, but that's not fully kitted out unfortunately)

Still a lot cheaper than a VP8K, but those quirks make it annoying to use/untenable for some people's use cases. It's nice and light/small compared to the 8K.

Does anyone know if the TP9900 is Bluetooth capable? If so is it proprietary like Motorola or will it work with standard Bluetooth.

Are there any Bluetooth accessories like a remote speaker mic?

Can you program the TP9900 via Bluetooth like you can with the Motorola APX radios?

I have Tate analog portables at my primary agency and they have held up very well under lots of daily abuse i.e. Fire and Rescue calls (about 4,000 calls per year).

I shopped around and the best price I found was through ComJot. Very knowledgeable individual. They had a great dicount for HAMs and public safety. One of the only ones I found that would sell or even deal with an individual. I asked for a quote and received one the same day.

Curious if anyone has heard of any developments regarding the scanning issues. That's becoming a bigger and bigger issue in my mind the more I've been thinking about it. I know that it will be largely speculation, but is it just a software issue for the dual mode issue or is there a hardware change needed for the stuff to work? I'd imagine that the decode is largely done in software, but I could be wrong.

Cheers,

JIRA-TRM-55189: Capability to scan DMR Tier-2 and Analog

This is specific to the TP9900/TM9900 models where previously analog channels could only be concurrent with P25 mode and therefore scan groups with analog could not contain DMR Tier-2 channels. With firmware v3.06.13 and programming application v3.6.6.32 (or later) the TP9900/TM9900 will support scan groups where analog and DMR Tier-2 can be created and where analog and P25 channels can also exist.

Well thats at least an improvement - is v3.6.6.32/v3.06.13 released yet? I'm not in front of Partner Portal right now.

This is most excellent, the one reservation I had to going Tait over Kenwood. (other than price)

Cheers,
