hey guys, have a question.i work in north Whitby, and i recently brought my BC898T to work to listen to TPS during the night.i also have a PSR500 which i have used previously, but with all the electrical equipment in my office,it really interferes with the transmissions i receive.i can pick up all 4 towers with the PSR500(albeit with lots of interference),but with the 898T,it seems im only picking up the east tower.i checked the control channels and the only 1 im not receiving is the west tower.the antenna im using is a Larson 800mhz magmount inside my office.i have reprogrammed the TPS system again, fearing that something was amiss, but i got the same result.is this just a sensitivity issue between the 2 scanners or is there something else? thx in advance

I ususally can get North, East, and South in that order .. generally North and East come in the best with the south tower having lots of noise. Problably your location.. sometimes GRE is a little more sensative.

yes,ive read that the gre's are more sensitive.just very annoying hearing the racket with the transmissions.tonite,im getting 3 towers(still no west),so i guess its a combination of location, sensitivity, and weather.thx for the reply.

I get the west tower a couple times a year when the conditions are right... thats it. Usually when west is coming in so is Peel, Halton and Hamilton.

I'm here a lot
When I visit family in Newcastle, Ont. I can usually pull in the TPS North, East and South towers. The good thing about the North tower is that a lot of the time the 2 District units will be heard there as well. Nice to hear what's happening in 23 Div. when I'm away.

Unless there is a major fire out that way, I miss out on the W TAC fire channels.

one of the south towers is pretty far east (275 main st) is east of woodbine

or just the height of the 1st canadian place tower and your in a favorable location to pick it up

just my guess
is there anyway to tell what actual tower location your picking up (not zone) ? even with trunk88?

im only distinguishing the towers by the entered control channels,i dont have trunk88.i was just curious anyways,my GRE is much more sensitive it seems,i checked control channels this morning at home(south oshawa) and im receiving everything except the west.strength is between 80-90%.too much distance to cover i guess.thanks for all the replies by the way, much appreciated.
