PL and DPL are used on analog voice channels. PL is an audible tone that is filtered out of the receive audio, it came long before DPL.I am definitely set to Astro. So the network ID is what I should be entering?
There is a column where I can select PL or DPL. And another column at the very end for network ID. If so it shows invalid when I enter F7E.
DMR uses a color code with values from 0 to 15, not red, white or blue for some reason.
P-25 uses a network access code or NAC. These codes are like a 2 factor authentication, you need the right frequency and code to get into a repeater.
PL was designed to allow users on a community repeater to avoid listening to all the traffic on the system. 'on hook' was the term used to describe when the mic was on the hook or mic clip, that signaled the receiver to only allow audio to the speaker when the proper PL was detected. When the mic was removed from the clip the radio opened up all audio so the user would know if the channel was busy.
In crystal days a radio only had 1 PL tone.
