Transmitter help

Wondering if anyone has any guidance. My son connected his FM transmitter to a new antenna 5/8 wave antenna. He hooked it up and it worked however he changed the broadcast station and transmission turnes to static. He attempted to change it back but still static. I'm not technically inclined but if anyone has any suggestions or guidnace I'd truly appreciate any help.

What type of radio ? Is he a Ham? Where are you all located at?

A lot of people criticize me for being to lengthy in explanations. However, we are not all mind readers and do wish some posters would include more information in their questions/posts. As KC5AKB says what radio? I would ask what frequency is a problem? What do you mean the transmission is static, how do you know it is static? What do you mean broadcast? Hams generally don't broadcast [not even sure if legal to broadcast]? Do you mean broadcast as in AM or FM broadcast bands? I really do not know where to begin giving an answer.
