• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules.     If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Have been in Orlando area for the last 5 days and have Orange County Fire/Rescue, Orlando fire on one knob and Osceola county fire on another and even after seeing how well this pager performs at home on my local systems, I’m amazed at how great it handles all the traffic. The Orange County Fire/ Orlando system is so busy, there’s rarely a break in traffic and it picks up every transmission every time, listening all day the battery runs from about 7-8 am till 10 at night.
After listening to a system this busy I definitely can see how helpful a hold or delay feature would help to stay on one incident, but since I’m just hobby monitoring down here it’s not a huge deal.
Another huge plus is I’ve been carrying it around with me while we go to dinner/shopping etc and there is no way I’d be able to do that with any scanner on the market currently.

Enjoy ! If OCSO wasn’t ENC, you’d learn quickly that you would want a nuisance delete ! That is the one thing about the Unication...you really have to plan out your knob positions and figure out exactly what you what to listen to because if you put too much in, it’s no stop in some areas. Escaping the heat in NJ, huh ? Lol

Believe it or not it hasn’t been bad the first 5 days, mid 80s nice breeze, even dropped into the 70s at night not too bad so far for August.
Absolutely would need to separate fire and law enforcement if they weren’t encrypted, or u would never catch one conversation. Bummer that Disney ops and Reedy creek fire are not only DMR but fully encrypted.
